Sacrament of Confirmation

On Friday, October 29, 2010 I got to witness Saint Francis College celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. After months of preparation and a two day retreat, 83 young men and women were confirmed in St. Francis Chapel. The Archbishop was unable to attend the Liturgy, so Fray Victor was delegated to administer the Sacrament. Below is photo of the chapel full with the confirmandi, their sponsors, as well as family and friends.
After the confirmandi received the Sacrament each were given a San Damiano Cross from Assisi that was placed around their neck by their religion teachers. At the end of the Liturgy the newly confirmed sang a wonderful song of praise and you could really sense the Gifts of the Spirit through their voices. Below is a photo of them singing.
And in case you were wondering, the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are Wisdom, Awe and Wonder (in God's Presence also known as Fear of the Lord), Understanding, Reverence (Piety or Fear of the Lord), Knowledge (of the Lord), Fortitude (Courage or Strength) and Counsel (Right Judgment).
And in Spanish they are Sabiduría (Wisdom), Temor de Dios (Awe and Wonder) Entendimiento (Understanding), Piedad (Reverence), Ciencia (Knowledge of the Lord), Fortaleza (Fortitude), and Consejo (Counsel). These all come from Isaiah 11:2-3.
This photo was taken to show how the Altar Server look from the side when they hold the Sacramentary for the presider during Mass.  To me it looks kind of funny, but to Costa Ricans at times I look kind of funny.
Lastly here is a photo of Fray Toño, María Laura, and I taken after the Confirmation Mass.
